Preparing for a Pandemic: An Interactive Simulated Exercise
Everyday we are reminded of the H5N1 influenza virus and its capability of igniting a global pandemic. Many planners have been preparing for this worst-case scenario, but with such an information overload, how can you be sure that your Business Continuity Program includes every necessary precaution?

This exercise gives attendees a first-hand look at dealing with a pandemic situation by simulating approximately 48 hours of recovery time and allows you to become part of the recovery team to solve the unique challenges of a pandemic outbreak. Every attendee will be assigned to a recovery team responsible for completing specific tasks from the plan. Each team will be responsible for communication with other teams and the emergency operations center, as well a making critical recovery decisions.

Date of the class is:
Sunday, April 22
1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

DRI International Education Program
Disaster Recovery Institute International (DRII) will offer the Business Continuity Planning Review class (BCP 501) and Business Continuity Qualifying Examination in conjunction with the 2007 Strohl Systems International User Group Conference. The review course offers professionals an opportunity to refresh their knowledge of the professional practices.

To qualify as a Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP), applicants must be able to document a minimum of two years of experience in business continuity/disaster recovery planning after successfully passing the qualifying exam and must be approved by DRI’s Certification Commission. DRI International also provides the Associate Business Continuity Planner (ABCP) level of certification for those who pass the qualifying exam, but have not yet accumulated the two years of experience.

Representatives from DRI International will be available during the exhibition to answer any general questions about their certification program. If you are interested in taking the exam or would like additional information on professional certification, please contact DRI International at 202-962-3979 or visit www.drii.org.

The review class costs $1495 and includes the cost of the exam. The exam can be taken alone for $250, payable directly to DRI International and takes approximately 3.5 hours to complete.

Dates of the classes are:
April 26, 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
April 27, 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Qualifying Exam: April 28, 8:30 a.m. – 12 noon

Making the Case for Continuity
(Earn 8 Continuing Education Credits by attending this exciting new one-day training program).

Nothing a business continuity professional does matters unless we can get people behind our initiatives. That is why we developed Making the Case for Continuity, a consistent, repeatable, strategic process specifically designed to help you gain commitment and support throughout all levels of your organization. This exciting new planning methodology combines our natural inclination toward process with proven sales and marketing techniques. The result is a scaleable, worksheet-based resource you can use to achieve success over and over again.

Making the Case for Continuity is effective because it is a real solution. Training and education in this area has historically been based on ideas or so-called best practices. The problem with this approach is it is far too dependent on what works for one person or one particular situation. Our process is unique in its ability to guide you through the development of living action plans that are based on the particular needs your specific environment.

Your satisfaction is guaranteed. If after attending this training program you do not feel the Making the Case for Continuity process is among the most valuable resources at your disposal, your $495 registration fee is 100% refundable.

Date of the class is:
Thursday, April 26
9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

For information and to register, contact Kathleen Aris at (800) 634-2016 or karis@strohlsystems.com.

“The call list feature (in LDRPS 10) was great. I love the way it looks on screen now. The process dependency mapping was way cool.”
